It looks like the sheet music may have had some influence on the bawdy piece, but it's not certain. If a gingerbread man was a common pedlar then the 2 pieces may be independent. |

Penn. dissertation, "Down-East Ballads and Songs". Collected in Kingman, Maine, around 1950, from a man who superintended a lumber company (presumably an ex-logger).
