17 Aug 23 - 05:10 AM (#4179349) Subject: Open Mike returns to Ascot UK? From: Roger the Skiffler Since Jagz (ex-Station pub) closed the building has passed through several hands. It has now reopened branded as Pantiles by a couple who ran a similar venue in Bagshot. Although their typical members are women (75%) aged between 35-55 and their programmes so far is mostly soul DJs , singles and ladies nights, they are having Open Mike nights on a Wednesday. I couldn't go last night but I hope to try it out next week & will report back. They also promise to reopen the restaurant "soon" and, of particular interest to me, may resume Sunday lunchtime jazz. From: Roger the Skiffler Gary Roberts (eldest son of Russ Abbott and leader of Spinout) and Len from Nashville Teens ran an interesting Open mike/Jam but I was often the only non performer there and the other events were restricted to the front bar while the music rom remained a work in progress. Alas, the venue closed in December for continued refurbishment but clearly ran out of money, no communication to members or customers via e-mail or FB page but now boarded up and freehold for sale. Anyone got £2.5 million? RtS |
