"The US singer-songwriter, who has died aged 97, encountered Louis Armstrong and more as she championed civil rights as much as music. In her final interview conducted last week, she explained why she was still angry"

I only found about about Barbara Dane in the last few years. Having read her biography, I was full of admiration for this wonderful singer whose fierce advocacy of civil rights and other progressive causes cost her a great deal in personal and career terms. She certainly made the most of her 97 years. RIP Barbara.

condolences to family, friends and fans.
A wonderful performer of folk, blues, jazz, topical and an
incredible life of music and activism. Her auto-biography
is a must read!
Eagerly looking forward to seeing the film.
