Promoting live events is one of its functions.” Absolutely no objection at all if it’s done honestly, i.e. by the person doing it in their real name, not a pseudonym. Otherwise, to my way of thinking, it seems a seedy, dishonest way of promoting one’s gigs. Although many of us here know who ‘The Sandman’ is in The Real World, a casual reader may well not have that kind of inside knowledge. That’s all. As always, the standard disclaimer applies - IMHO. However, I realise that YMMV, and I’m cool with that. |

Maybe Dick owns the wrong kind of dog ;-) We lived in Loughton for eight years, Dick. Sadly, I won't make the gig as I can't do the 500-mile round trip. Enjoy anyway! |
20 Oct 24 - 06:08 AM (#4210117) Subject: RE: Dick Miles Loughton Folk Club 31 Oct 2024 From: GUEST,Steve Shaw Just looked at the map to find Loughton Folk Club, to find that it's a three-minute walk from our old house in Smarts Lane! We left Loughton in 1986 and the folk club didn't happen until 2010. In another life, who knows... :-) As I said, enjoy. |

20 Oct 24 - 09:53 AM (#4210122) Subject: RE: Dick Miles Loughton Folk Club 31 Oct 2024 From: Vic Smith Dick's booking at Loughton is on Hallowe'en so I hope the man will be brushing the sand off his spooky songs and ballads to make his programme seasonal. This morning I have been checking carefully on my Unquiet Grave, Faithful Johnny, The Cruel Sister and a few others for a programme we are doing around that date. Where did you say? I'm not telling you. It's a secret. I wouldn't want people turning up to hear us, would I? |
