02 Nov 24 - 02:46 PM (#4210835) Subject: Tech: Celtic Lyrics Corner From: GUEST,Calum celticlyricscorner.net was a website with lyrics mostly lifted from album booklets. It wasn't a particularly scholarly endeavour but it had a large collection of lyrics from 90s/00s album releases, and in particular had a lot of Gaelic texts not easily found elsewhere. It had not been updated for a number of years and this year finally fell off the net entirely. I have retrieved a copy and am hosting it here: http://callingthetune.co.uk/clc/ There is also a zip of the entire site: http://callingthetune.co.uk/clc/clc.zip |

04 Nov 24 - 02:01 PM (#4210976) Subject: RE: Celtic Lyrics Corner website new URL From: GUEST,Rossey Runrig fan.. music is copyright. On modern works lyrics are copyright. That has to be factored in, credit is due to writers, and permission should be sought, and correct attribution made to the authors, not the artists who performed or recorded it, (unless they wrote it) as seems to be a nasty habit of AI bots and other parties these days. |

05 Nov 24 - 01:00 PM (#4211044) Subject: RE: Celtic Lyrics Corner website new URL From: GUEST,Calum I don't mind doing any simple and obvious fixes (my email is at the bottom of the home page) but in general I'm not planning to update it any serious way, just host a snapshot of it as it was when it went offline. As for copyright, I think it's pretty well established by now that by and large, composers and songwriters benefit from having their material where it can be found by performers who go on to generate performance and recording fees. I'll leave the copyright holders to get in touch if they feel the need. |
