Larks of Dean Quire

06 Dec 24 - 06:28 PM (#4213034)
Subject: Larks of Dean Quire
From: Black belt caterpillar wrestler

For those who want a different set of Christmas carols to listen to, I have just set up a Bandcamp account for the Larks of Dean Quire and put up a Christmas Selection from recordings made at concerts a few years ago.
Any income from this will go into the Larks of Dean Quire funds.

For those who don't know, the original Larks were Baptists in the Rossendale valley, Lancashire between about 1750-1850 and wrote a lot of their own music. Edwin Waugh wrote about meeting a group of them on a walk across the hills and hearing them burst into song.

Not all the pieces are original Larks pieces but we are sure that they would have collected these newer pieces into their repertoire, as they collected contemporary pieces back then.

There are 18 tracks in the album, and tey are not all versions of "While Shepherds"!
