Tonight From Ten To One

Tonight from ten to one, dear,
Is my only chance to date,
I'd gladly cop you early,
But I'd rather cop you late.

I'll come from ten to one, dear,
If everything's all right,
I'll tender one, a tender one,
At ten to one tonight.

But please don't bring your mother,
Don't bring your sister Sue,
I can at ten to one, dear,
But I can't attend to two.

So if you tend to wonder
What odds I'd tender want,
I'll lay you ten to one, dear.
That I'll lay you ten to one.

April 25, 2005. Transcribed from the singing of Bob Colman. He learned this
and the Two Little Gnats from a friend Bill Edgerton on a trip together in the late 1950s.
The recording is in the Jack Horntip Collection.

I can't find any other analogs to this song. If you know a variant, please share.

Just one typo needs correcting. Last verse, line 2 should read "What odds I'd tender one"

Thanks and best wishes! Bob
