Just been advised that Gabriel Yacoub, of Malicorne and many other projects, passed away on Jan 22, 2025. Apols if this has been mentioned - did a search and couldn't find anything.

Wow, now there's a name!! I was very fond of Breton and French folk music back in the 70s-80s - and still have my recordings of Stivell, Malicorne, La Bamboche, Bensusan et al!!

VALE, Gabriel.

I saw him at C# House in the 90's (?) and have several of his CDs - some of them quite strange. 'Bel' is the one I often go back to, on which he sings this:
Nous irons en Flandres

It's not many folk artists who have been awarded the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres! His music is wonderful to listen to and the traditional Breton folk music with its use of traditional instruments is uplifting.
I have added his name to our "In Memoriam" thread and send my condolences to all those who know and love him.
