Hi, does anyone know the lyrics of the fine song "Brown Bread" by Kitty O'Donoghue? Thanks.

Here's three recordings:

Could you share your attempts at transcribing it? Sounds mostly clear to me, but always prefer to start with a base-point rather than from scratch if at all possible.

I'm German and it's not so easy for me, but I'll try:
I never forget the days of my youth
?
As children may play, we gathered each day
? just down by the school.
Nine brothers I have, and sisters I've six
?
?
Oh I'm going hoem to may parents tonight
Where turf fires ? ?
And the smell of brown bread ?
Even brown bread i take my delight.

And as children we played every day after school
?
?
In autumn pou know we plucked blueberries along the roadside.
??

Thanks for helping me get started... here's what I hear on the first video. I'll advertise myself that I'm not British and can have some trouble with the accents (and especially the dialect!) but it's a start.

BROWN BREAD

Oh I'm going home to my parents tonight
Where the turf fire burns bright on the craig(?)
And the smell of brown bread and the hens when they're fed
Oh, in the ???? I'll take my delight

I'll never forget the days of my youth
To Nottscroft School we did go
And as children at play, we'd gather each day
At the bridge just down by the school

Nine brothers I have and of sisters I've six
And they're all still with us today
In a place I loved in y

BROWN BREAD

CHORUS
Oh I'm going home to my parents tonight
Where the turf fire burns bright on the grave
And the smell of brown bread and the hens when they're fed
Oh, in the Brown Lake(?) I'll take my delight

I'll never forget the days of my youth
To Nottscroft(?) School we did go
And as children at play, we'd gather each day
At the bridge just down by the school

Nine brothers I have and sisters I've six
And they're all still with us today
In a place I loved in my childhood to roam
New Criss-Cross(?) just down by Downy's gate(?)

As children we'd play every day after school
In Kirknall(?) Hill it was known
Where we'd gather wildflowers and we'd look for birds nest
Of some tommy(?) until the sun had gone down

And in Autumn you know, with a tin can we'd go
Picking blackberries all along the roadside
And when the apples were ripe and my Mike Kelly(?) out of side
To ?my ancestors? of the orchards we'd go

CHORUS

Now when Christmas drew near all the boys would appear
At our house each every weekend
All making plans for the Wren sure the music was grand
Joe Scanlon would bring all the ???

Francie Cairns would be there, where he jumped like a hare
As the plans for the Wren they went on
McBond and Davie Keith, sure they were a scream
When the goats, they could not be found

And Dada, you know, he loved us all so
Although his heart we oft times did break
No danger we'd see as we'd swim like an eel
In Downy's big field in the lake

And Mama, you know, she'd wash and she'd sew
And she always had plenty flat bread
And when the rosary was said, we were all put to bed
And mama would empty the ???

CHORUS

Now my parents are gone to their Heavenly home
And I know we'll be with them some day
So keep your fires burning bright in your homesteads tonight
Fond memories will always remain

CHORUS

Wouldn't the turf be burning on the grate rather than the grave?

Brown cake makes more sense too.
