2025 Obit: Kath (Cathy) Bainbridge

My dear sister passed away on 24 March. She was a singer in Edinburgh 60s group 'Bliss point', an early member of the University folk club and pianist & singer with the Marsden Rattlers from her home town. Later a psychotherapist and published poet, she became literally a 'Hexhamshire Lass' in an old mill house across a ford over the Rowley Burn. RIP Kath, you'll be sadly missed by your loving brother & many others.

Jim

Condolences about the loss of your sister Cathy. Did she have any released records or tapes with her 60's group Bliss Point or with the University Folk Club?

Lin,
I don't think there were any commmercially available recordings of her 'Bliss Point' band but there may be private recordings of course.

Likewise her University days, although she was the one who forged the long lived links between folk clubs of South Shields and St Andrews .

Her younger sister Susan is well known in the London traditional scene and also played piano with the Marsen Rattlers, mainly depending on where the band were playing!
