Hi. me again, asking for help with this new cd. If you are successful and live in US (it is just too expensive other places to mail) I will send you a cd. I have a very nice cover photo for cd about boat building. It is from a no copyright sight..wikimedia or wikipedia. I carefully stashed the download where I could attribute the photographer and now i can not find where i stashed it. I have tried a google images search and got nothing, but download is only a couple of months old.
If someone could help I would be very appreciative. I could email you the picture but i just do not have the information i have to attach to it. I would not want anyone to go to much trouble and i think an expert could do it in a couple of minutes. thanks

I've only tried this once but my Hubby showed me how to do a reverse image search where I pasted the image into a search box and it searched for that image or similar images. It works to an extent when trying to identify plants.

Or I just did a search on the term:

boat building

and then clicked the Image tab.

If you can type something specific e.g. type of boat, or place etc it helps to narrow down the search. Do you have any more information on the image you have?

Mary, I'm in the middle of projects until Sunday, but if that is soon enough I can give you a hand. It can start with talking you through how to search your browser history.

Also, if you have saved the image on your computer and you know what date you saved it or the between certain dates you can search your computer for files saved in that period.

that would be great. Time is running out and I have had so many delays with this CD and need to get it saleable by Memorial weekend. I appreciate all suggestions. I did try to do a google image search but it gave me no results, but I could have done it wrong.

Hi Mary,

I've tried an image search for the photo but I have not found it.

I've been thinking of other options.

Did you originally download it onto your computer? Would it still be in the Download file (assuming you are using Microsoft)?

If it is still there, the date of download will be on the file. You could search your computer files for anything close to that date if you saved it with a different name in a different folder. I have Microsoft Explorer and there is a search box on the top right, or and when I click in that box some search options appear on the top left toolbar as well. The file type e.g. JPG etc can be part of the search.

Also, if you saved the file you can right click on the file name and look at the Properties and then the General tab for the date of creation and then search around that date.

If you processed the image in a photo shop type of programme, you may be able to open that programme and go to File/History or similar to see if you can find where you saved it.

If only I could sit beside you and help you search for it. My ex-librarian fingers are itching to help. :-)

I have occasion to go back looking for images I downloaded but don't remember where I saved them (or, just as often, I forgot to designate the folder for the file and the browser saved it to the LAST place I saved to which has no relation to the image I downloaded). The trick is to search your browser history. Open the default browser, go to the upper right (usually three dots) browser control and from there open the history as a tab. You'll see all of the stuff you did every day (it's usually quite a surprise to me how many sites I've visited - making scrolling down through it almost impossible).

The top of the history page has a search bar and you can try the terms you used for the original search and when you hit "enter" it'll show you the possibilities, going back to when that browser started keeping records (a good reason to not delete your history).
