I remember hearing a young woman singing solo at a karaoke night and she was singing very flat. The next time I heard her sing with another woman who was singing in tune, and the woman who sang flat actually sounded like she was singing an alto harmony accompaniment, so it did work, in a way.

Anything! Singing in key, tempo, dynamics &c. chosen, or dictated, by someone else is Hell. Unless it's Opera, of course...

Apropos, what's with the craze for singing along with not an "Empty Orchestra", but with some Professional Singer's version of something?
