Nowadays, we only seem to hear or sing God Save the King on very formal occasions, usually that in and of themselves are connected to royalty and/or our governmental history, with its basis in the British Empire. Don't know the official protocol concerning precedence, etc.

O Canada? Other than at hockey games, not sure where you would regularly hear it - maybe at schools early in the morning, if they still do that.

When I was a kid, every movie started with O Canada, and everyone in the theatre would stand and sing along before the movie started.
In the days when radio and TV went off the air after midnight, O Canada would be played before the test pattern came on.
