BS: Nick Dow discharged from hosp. (Fall)

I had a bad reaction to some meds and took a nosedive down our cottage stairs. I've made a mess of myself but I was discharged from the trauma centre in Preston yesterday. It's going to take a while to get on my feet, and I have decided to retire from touring and gigging and concentrate on other things. (No need to list them) and I'll be active on line.
There is some misinformation on Facebook, and the simple truth is my GP did not stop some of my heart medication when he should have and kept prescribing for a year too long. Hence the tumble downstairs With the withdrawal of the medicine I am getting better slowly. Not all bad though I was able to flirt with some nice nurses! Even if I do look like the Creature from the Black Lagoon at the moment (or even always!)

best wishes from the ex-Creature from the Red Lagoon. My eye socket looked like someone had painted it with the reddest lipstick they could find after I tripped on an uneven footpath one evening 8 weeks ago. It faded relatively quickly, so I didn't frighten innocent little kiddies.

I hope you are feeling better soon, & can enjoy your retirement.

Nick, I'm sure you had your retirement project(s) in place before the event.

Something I advise everyone nearing retirement. But

What is harder to envisage, is that these things will change. eg I volunteered at the Community Radio, even ended-up spending 5/6/7 days there, at times, until it ran out of money. However I had already started recording old folk talking about the area "in the old days". So I just carried on self-funded.

I didn't read the title completely. I thought it said "Nick Dow discharged from prison..."

Get well soon, Nick.

Will they have to move the wagons past you while you hold the brush for a while?
Best wishes,

Falls like that may happen to anyone.
I'm really sorry it happened to you.
As you heal, I hope you feel better rather than worse for it. Take care.

The bruising and black eyes are fading, but the real pain is in my neck. (Perhaps I'm getting payback!) I aim to give a talk on the TSF on Sunday, 7th, and be OK for that. I'll try good positive thinking (or drinking!)

Sorry to hear about this, Nick, and hope you are soon mended. My husband was also kept on a certain medication well after he was supposed to have stopped it. As an ex-medic myself, I knew he was supposed to stop it after a year, and queried it with his GP who was still churning out the repeat prescriptions! Luckily it didn’t cause any of the problems you’ve highlighted!
