02 Sep 25 - 08:23 AM (#4227944) Subject: BS: Denmark's Conspiracy of Decency 1943 From: sciencegeek I still get chills when I remember first hearing Fred Small sing his Denmark 1943 at our small LITMA concert... and later finding the book, Conspiracy of Decency, and years later seeing the Gerda, one of the many vessels used in the evacuation on permanent exhibit at Mystic Seaport Museum. People of good will doing their best to confound a racist plot to commit genocide by deporting innocent people to end up in death camps. Is there a ballad yet of the gals thwarting the efforts of ICE to locate people of color so that they can illegally detain them? Decades after losing the American Civil War, the South gave rise to the Ku Klux Klan and today decades after the fall of the Third Reich we are seeing fascism's Big Lie raising its filthy head once again. I really miss Woody and Pete singing out for freedom from oppression. |
