Robert Redford has shuffled off his mortal coil. He was 89. I did not think of him among my most beloved actors, but from his youth on television when he showed up on Perry Mason, and his breakthrough roles in Butch and Sundance he was a positive and charsmatic force for variety and quality in acting. I was mesmerized by one of his last roles, if not actually his last role, in "All Is Lost."
In the meantime he was a great director, an active environmentalist, one of those people who was comfortable behind the scenes pushing things along, and of course able to handle the scenes from in front as well.

The cliff jump scene has got to be one of the greatest ever film moments. I've watched it about twenty times times since yesterday.

I can't swim either!

It was a perfect scene to see in a theater with a college crowd!

"Who ARE those guys?"

When he was 21 he played an empathetic, compassionate angel of death on the Twilight Zone. Have you seen All Is Lost?

Redford provided narration on an LP album titled
Language and Music of the Wolves,
in keeping with his interest in conservation and the environment.

In the past two weeks, Terry Gross aired her interview(s) with Robert Redford , which were great.

Terry Gross is a goddess, who seems to have interviewed the entire world of people who have made a difference. Thanks for the links.
