Two great songs. One is by Kate Long of Washington State. it is about a child who was deformed in some way and could only be happy on Halloween where she could disguise herself.

The other is by Violet Jacobs and I forget the name of the song..it is about ghosts coming back from WWI to join them. I think the man's name was Lackland.

The second song comes from a poem by Violet Jacob ( no s), simply entitled “Hallowe’en “, set to music by Jim Reid. She is mourning the loss of her son, Lachlan, in WW1. It was sung yesterday at a Hallowe’en party I was at.
Many fine recordings of it, including Jim Reid’s own, Sheena Wellington, Lucy Pringle and a group called Tryst.

Nasty Spider, by Jeremy Tatlor might fit the bill. I used to sing it if there were kids in the company.

IIRR, the Violet Jacob song is simply called "Hallowe'en". My favourite recording is by Jean Redpath.
