Alas a tad too far for me to renew my aquaintance with the excellent Mr Padgett, but I wish you success with the club; maybe one day if the lord spares me.

Thanks John MacKenzie seasons and other greetings ~

WE are suffering the loss of some great people that have been the bedrock of the folk scene over many years ~ hope you are still singing!

None of us are 100% any more ~ all the best

Came and went we had 7 turn up ~ weather was wet cold windy ~ had a long chatty reminiscence and then from about two pm

Michael Maher, Tas Lucas, Peter Giles, Stuart Parker, Josh and me all contributed to the songs and stories

Next one with luck February 22nd 2026 hopefully better weather conditions

Saturday 18 April 1:30pm to 3:30pm at Helmshore Mills Museum

This concert tells the story of the Weavers Uprising of 1826, when thousands of people took to the streets of East Lancashire and smashed the power-looms newly installed in mills, including Turner's Middle Mill at Helmshore. Tickets are free but you need to book by emailing lancsocsecretary@gmail.com : please don't book a ticket unless you definitely intend to come because we only have limited numbers. The show is written by Mr Nick Caffrey and the performers are : Sid Calderbank, Mark Dowding, Nick Caffrey, Ed McGurk, Robin Madge, Alex Fisher and Julie Proctor. The story will be presented in song, narrative, poetry, music and dance.

I was hoping to attract quieter singers and at festivals I ran such events ~ early days yet

I ran the Fred Jordan memorial event at Saltburn for some years

Venues for traditional song and indeed trad music are few

Alan Jones runs his Celtic style music session (12 years now) in the Bar Ruelle 2nd Sunday in the month similar times ~ tunes only as the Barnsley song session
