15 Feb 26 - 02:13 PM (#4235824) Subject: Obit: David Dodds From: Joe Offer I got this email from a Mudcatter who was shy about posting: Hi Joe, At the end of the first week in february, I heard quite by the way on a zoom that Davey (David/Dave) Dodds had passed away “a few days ago” due to cancer, apparently he’d been really ill for the past three years.. I managed to find confirmation of this on a mutual friend's facebook site, but his own website hasn’t been updated. Davey had lived in Cornwall for some time. He had started in rock, discovered trad folk and wrote a number of important songs including I Can Hew and The Magpie, then moved back to prog rock of the folky (Celtic) kind, he was also a mandolin virtuoso, and led the band Red Jasper. I’m really surprised there hasn’t been anything posted on Mudcat, and wonder whether you could start a thread but I hate to appear ignorant with scant information… Do you have any contacts? I hope the Mudcatter doesn't mind my posting his email. David Dodds wrote some wonderful songs. May he rest in peace. -Joe- Davey's Website: https://www.daveydodds.com/ Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100013901624600 |
