Thought for the day - January 30, 2000

Loosely paraphrased from an interview on NPR of, I believe it was, Marcel Marceau:

When you have more hopes and plans than memories, you remain forever young.

Ah, but was he trapped in an invisible box at the time?

Plans and dreams make a person alive. It forces your soul to move forward. Memories are lovely bits of life that you can treasure in repose, but why give up the perfectly good chance to survive, adapt to life, and to once in a while be so strong as to make life adapt to you?

Beautiful thought, kat...something to plan and dream about.

Funny that, Marcel only ever recorded one word on film, in Mel Brooks 'Silent Movie', he said "non". If a man can become internationally famous for not saying anything, why can't politicians take a leaf out of his book?

Liz, you hit it right on the head!

In fact you haveshown qualities I would like to see in office and I think you should run!!

"Course getting elected on a platform of silence could get tricky but I am sure you have the necessary to crack that. I promise you a vote as soon as I see how you plan to present your positio!:>)) I still agree with you, though!

In the movie Being There, I think Peter Sellers moved up the ladder quickly by being silent. At the end of the movie, he even walked on water.

Inspiring thought Kat. With that in mind, it is also important to focus on being in the moment, releasing the past and allow the future to unfold.

Thanks, kat. Lovely thought. Probably why, at age 42, things like wanting to build a habitable treehouse keep me from having much in common with my peers.

Regards, Neil

Neil:

You don't need approval from your peers to build a habitable treehouse. No peers, just studs :>) You go for it. I want a video.

The problem here with Neil is that h did order some great studs from the forests of British Columbia and had them shipped by Canadian Pacific Rail. Sadly they had to make a stop halfway across Alberta because one of the loggers had fallen asleep accidentally on one of the loaded flatcars. They stopped to let the lumberjack off and now all the wood is ruined.

Oh, yes, Spaw, I can see it now, hundreds, nay thousands! of four by eights or whatever size they *cut* them to, all somehow raising their phantom branches to some appendage unseen, whacking off en masse!

Thank yew for that image! LOL! kat

It does tend to ruin the wood, though, don't it?

chuckle - how did a well crafted, thought provoking, innocent thread get twisted into a discussion on the masturbatory practices of the Canadian lumber industry? Spaw obviously had a hand in this.

No pun intended.

Hello Kat

A great quote to think about having turned 20 yesterday (the day this thread was started). As for now, I have plenty of hopes and dreams, and Fantasies to work on. The future is looking bright. Too bright to see it as a matter of fact.

So maybe there's something in that for you Benboy. She's very intelligent, has a great sense of humor, and bakes a mean cookie.....plus Meebo ain't doin' squat about her. I think the boy's too wrapped up in art or something.

I know I'm going out on a limb on this one, but Ewell Gibbons once had a terrific recipe for Fir Pie in his book Eating Out in the Woods.
