07 Feb 00 - 02:56 AM (#174396) Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Sixteen tons From: Helen I just thought I'd let you know that the Mudcat psychic transmission system is still working. For no reason I suddenly thought of this song yesterday afternoon, and now here it is: a request thread. This happens fairly often for me. I don't think of a song for years and when I do someone has posted a thread on it and then I dial up and find it listed. Helen |
19 Feb 00 - 07:05 AM (#181154) Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Sixteen tons From: Jeremiah McCaw I've seen a couple of variations of that 3rd verse. One is: I was raised in a cave by an mama lion Ain't no high-tone woman make me walk the line. and the other: I was raised in the bottoms by a mama hound I'm as mean as a dog but I'm gentle as a lamb with that last line sometimes being done as: I'm as mean as a dog and I don't back down |
19 Feb 00 - 10:45 AM (#181202) Subject: Lyr Add: SIXTEEN STONE (parody of Sixteen Tons) From: Liz the Squeak See if this works for you - same tune, different sentiment. SIXTEEN STONE (parody of Sixteen Tons) She weighs 16 stone and what do you get, A whole lot of woman and that's a fact. Take a closer look, you must agree, There's no sharp corner on a woman like me! You can't cuddle up to a bag of bones, If her ribs stick out, leave her well alone. We've a soft welcome for a man in need, We're surely built for comfort if not for speed!

Well if you've seen more meat on a greasy spoon, Enjoy! LTS

I'm putting it in our show, he does Built for Comfort and I'll do this, or vice versa, two duets with interchanged verses. Maybe Built for Comfort will work as the chorus for 16 Stone. Along with: Wild women don't worry, wild women don't get the blues... Oh, and a colorful south side Chicago line: The bigger the cushion, the better the pushin'! |
