Hello to all. Have you had the luck to hear a young guy named Eric Bibb ? HE does'nt sound like anyone.. I saw a cd with a pritty little L OO Gibson and bought it because I liked the man's taste in guitars.Anyway he's wonderfull. Great old songs with lots off the right stuff..Very honest and quite optomistic. Traditional blues are very much alive here. Has anyone heard this guy up close and pearsonal.I guess from the liner notes that he was from New York City and now lives in Sweden. any stories? All the b

Eric was a guest on my radio program last summer when he was in Montreal to play in the acoustic blues series at the Montreal Jazz Festival. A very nice guy in addition to being an excellent musician and performer.

Eric did indeed grow up in New York and has lived in Sweden for many years. He does tour in North America fairly regularly.

He is the son of singer Leon Bibb and his uncle (his mother's brother) was jazz composer and pianist John Lewis of the Modern Jazz Quartet.

The CDs of Eric's that I have are:

-Good Stuff (Earthbeat! R2 75265) -Me To You (Code Blue 3984 20444 2) -Spirit and the Blues (Earthbeat! R2 75686).

Last I heard, his new album was supposed to be out around now on Earthbeat, but I have not seen it yet. Some (if not all of his albums) are on different labels in Europe.

He also has a kid's CD in collaboration with Taj Mahal and Linda Tillery:

-Shakin' A Tailfeather (Music for Little People R2 72940).
