Lie Easy by Anne Zimmerman

If the clouds never lift before autumn comes on
And the fog and the rain pass the summer
If the goldenrod blossoms and dies without sun
And we know that the snow's round the corner
There's comfort in coldness from watching outside
As the smoke gently drifts from the chimney
And I hope that the love that I bear for you now
Will help you in hard times, lie easy

If the birds weave their patterns among the steel skies
And they leave without sign of a lifting
If the thought of the months that will follow is hard
When you know that the seasons are shifting
There's comfort in warmth from watching inside
As the snow gently drifts past the window
And I hope that the love that I bear for you now
Will help you in hard times, lie easy

Anne Zimmerman is also known as (better known as?) Anne Dodson.

Charlie, are you sure? I thought Anne Dodson is David Dodson's sister. Is that right?

I think so. P'rraps she got married. I remember that one got a lot of air play here in 1982, the summer it RAINED.

Say, does anyone know David's song I was Right,I was Wrong All Along?

Anne was married (briefly?) in the 1970s, and recorded on her first County Down album under her married name Anne Zimmerman. By the time of the second album by County Down, she had resumed her maiden name of Dodson, which she still keeps.
