You guys have helped in the past, now I am asking for more. Can someone email me the finger positions for chords when banjo is tuned in GModal? I think I can get along withe G C D F A Any help will be appreciated. Jim

Jim, There's a really good book you should invest in. It's 'The Banjo Case Chord Book' by Larry Sandberg published by Amsc Publications. I've found it real helpful.

I assume that by GModal you're talking about tuning gDGCD. I play clawhammer, so I don't think in terms of chords that much, but I've got my banjo on my knee and I'll give it a go... For a G chord, try playing open or fingering the high D string at the 4th fret. G - 00004 C - 00545 D7 - 00200 F - 03203 A - 02226 (barre this one at the 2nd fret)

Hello, I think the whole point of "Sawmill tuning" or G sus 4 is to have all thuoghs wonderful open notes, I have played {frailed} in this tuning for years but would say I dont know any chords ..Do you own any cd's with Clerence Tom Ashley using this tuning. He has always been a great eye opener for me.Anyway my faverite position for playing the banjo is prone<>>>><><> sorry<><>

Hi, There is a very usefull page I have found that might be of help. It's a java applet for tunings/chords/modes and scales. Give it a try. (note that you can set each string to any note and request any chord structure ) It shows every place on the fretboard where you can find the chords
