He's playing at Wintergrass in Seattle with Mark Graham next week. He plays an incredible slide guitar, and i seem to remember he can play just about anything he picks up, stunningly. Has an unusual voice. I might be able to find a contact address for him, is that what you want?
Blessings,
Barbara

I've worked with Orville for about ten years in various band incarnations. He works alot with Mark at present but is an incredible performer all by himself and yes he can play just about anything, and that includes guitar, slide guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin and he's even a pretty darn good washboard player. He has powerful vocals to accompany his virtuosity on all of the above. He's a great song writer, an all round wonderful human and well worth whatever amount of money it takes to enjoy his unique talents. Boy I sound like the president of his fan club. I just bumped into him today in Seattle and he mentioned that he and Mark have a website that they share.

Gee, Reggie. Do you have the URL? I saw Orville and Mark perform here in Portland and they were great. Funny thing, I remember Orville playing the washboard more than anything else. He did a wonderful performance. Margo

Sorry for the delay getting back to you all.
No I don't require a contact number, we already have that. You see this is a small Island & very expensive to reach we usually have to "Buy Blind" as they say. So this time I thought to use mudcat for outside and up to date opinions and I'm glad I did It looks as though we are in for a Treat.

I see I am Listed as Guest I'll Have to reset my Cookie.
Thanks for your Input.

Margo, I just spoke with Orville on the phone that site is: www.mdick.com

Graham, as to the kind of stuff Orville can perform, he plays folk, blues, rhythm & blues, bluegrass, country, jugband, hokum, rock... I can't think of anything he can't play.

The thing I remember most clearly about hearing him perform is his singing falsetto scat(nonsense syllables) in harmony with his blues slide guitar. It was absolutely amazing.

Barbara

Orville has recorded with a whole host of folks here in the Northwest including two recordings with the jugband Strangers With Candy. Where he and I both did time together. His studio work is prolific in fact that we've renamed this musical period of time as AOJ (After Orville Johnson). Of course all that came before is now refered to as BOJ (Before Orville Johnson) which spelled backward is JOB, this observation might hold some clue to his mysterious past.
