What brought you to the Mudcat? Do you know the Midbnioght Special on WFMT radio, Chicago? It is a weekly folk show that used to also include poetry, old radio sketches, etc. Not sure you'll find a lot of poetry here, except the song lyrics, but many poets. Hope you'll stick around!! I recommend joining-- just did recently. Good people here, and sense of humor that will leave you gasping. Someone is bound to post a joke in this thread before too long, eventually all threads lead to jokes! |

For one thing, every time I laugh my ass off while rolling on the floor (LMAOWROTF), I have to eat all sorts of junk food to grow it back. And the skin irritation from all the pants wetting opportunities (PWO) is very hard to eliminate. Then there are all the songs running through my head. It isn't spam, but I've begun to worry I won't live long enough to sing every song in the DigiTrad.

I love Wallace Stevens, and must admit I do not always understand what the poems are "about." I don't know if the poet did either! He seemed very interested in poetry which used language in an innovative and unusual way...but certainly some of his poems have specific themes and ideas going on... is Sunday morning the one with all the repeating, mutating passages involving the color of the waves etc.? It's one of my favorites, in any case. What a Sunday morning is varies from person to person, but I think I share enough of Stevens' contexts to *imagine* a Sunday morning dedicated to devotions of a wholly other sort.
