I think this is the title; Christine Kidd sings it. I have been unable to get the CD anywhere so far... any help? thanks! peg

Well, I'm no expert on Irish songs, and many other people who check in here regularly are, but when I used to perform the country chores in an Irish 'show band', they did a tune whose chorus went roughly:

No more 'mershin durkin'
I'm sick and tired of workin'.
So longer I'll be ------ ,
And no longer I'll be told.
For as sure's my name is Carney
I'll be off to Californy
And indstead of diggin' prayties
I'll be diggin' lumps of gold.

I have approximated the title words -- I assume there's a Gaelic phrase that sounds roughly like that. Whether or not this is the tune you had in mind, maybe one of the Irish experts will come along and enlighten us as to the real words to this one.

All best, James

Faith 'n begorra! Enter these words into the DT and Forum search slot

MUIRSHEEN DURKIN

and you will find the song I had in mind. Whether or not it's the one you're looking for is another question.
