19 Feb 00 - 01:05 PM (#181252) Subject: Welcome New Member From: wysiwyg May God have mercy on us all, my husband is now a member. Please welcome Hardiman the Fiddler, a sometime visitor to the Mudcat, a musician of limited but specific renown, an enigma wrapped in a ... oh whatever, I like him. Some of you may have seen him peeking out of our pop-up on Mudcat Island. He keeps me honest, I don't know what effect he'll have on you! |
19 Feb 00 - 01:33 PM (#181260) Subject: RE: Welcome New Member From: Crowhugger Well, well, well, Hardi-Fid, have a grand old time here at the Mudcat Cafe. We do! |

Welcome, welcome, Hardiman the Fiddler, to the Mudcat Cafe! Hope we see you in here often, even if you two have to share a computer! All the best, katlaughingwhowilldrawherownconclusions**BG** |
19 Feb 00 - 05:52 PM (#181328) Subject: RE: Welcome New Member From: Amos Howdy, Hardiman the Fiddl;er. Thanks for keeping Praise so honest -- she (having been paddling in these waters a while now) has met many temptations to go absolutely mad instead, and seems to have resisted them all. SO you're obviously doing a good job! Look forward to hearing from you. :>)) Amos |

19 Feb 00 - 09:23 PM (#181420) Subject: RE: Welcome New Member From: MMario Fiddler on the bridge? not a fiddler on the roof? Wouldn't that be more traditional? |
19 Feb 00 - 09:24 PM (#181421) Subject: RE: Welcome New Member From: Troll Praise has been at a while so you should know what to expect. Welcome to Uncle Max's Home For Wayward Musicians. Set a spell. Yer among yer own kind now. troll |
19 Feb 00 - 09:59 PM (#181439) Subject: RE: Welcome New Member From: Lonesome EJ Hardiman, our only hope is that you display some level of common decency and rational behavior that your fair wife has thus far failed to manifest! Her constant ranting about "this is a Folk site, Dammit! Cut the friggin' BS!" has left a smoking crater where many a fine thread used to be. And her belly-dancing routine on the Mudcat Island was unexpectedly tasteless, yet somehow fascinating. Perhaps with you keeping a watchful eye on her, we will be spared any more unfortunate incidents such as the notable one involving the ukelele and the bowl of haggis. LEJ (doing his best to pinch-hit for Catspaw, who is not feeling well enough to hurl his traditional load of sarcasm at a new member) |

In this sort of setting he comes across as some sort of "poor-suffering-pussy-whipped-bastard"

19 Feb 00 - 10:35 PM (#181454) Subject: RE: Welcome New Member From: GUEST,_gargoyle If ever..... there were "grounds for divorce"....... "welcoming" your husband (in this style) to this degenerate throng...... would be it. |
19 Feb 00 - 10:37 PM (#181456) Subject: RE: Welcome New Member From: GUEST,_gargoyle Before the divorce is drawn-up.
Make sure, that it is clearly stipulated, "all residuals are yours....including those generated from this thread." |

20 Feb 00 - 12:25 AM (#181501) Subject: RE: Welcome New Member From: wysiwyg LEJ, Silly you, the version I told him of my exploits was much more explicit than yours! You left out most of the really fun parts, and here I thought you liked me. What about the six sick sex songs I snuck into the Mudcat songbook attributed to our junior warden at church (did I mention he's a pastor?)? What about the recipe I posted with instrux for each of us to make our very own Cat Fart sim-u-blast powder? What about the murder ballad you and I worked out together based on our own past-life experiences? Huh? What about the plot cleverly woven through all my thread postings to... no I didn't tell him that, don't anyone else either! Oh and Gargle, No fear my dear, he speaks for himself quite well, but sometimes I do him the kindnesses he requests, and he did request that I introduce him, as others have been introduced before. Some people are just a little bit shyer than yourself. (And next time you have advice to offer, how about getting to know the person a bit first. I don't believe we have met?) |
20 Feb 00 - 12:54 AM (#181510) Subject: RE: Welcome New Member From: Lonesome EJ Gosh, Praise. Your husband must be one of them new Enlightened Free-love Christians I read about in Reader's Digest. I'm sure in no time at all he'll have his ukelele buried in the haggis up to the fifth fret. |
20 Feb 00 - 12:56 AM (#181511) Subject: RE: Welcome New Member From: wysiwyg LEJ, You've done it again. |

20 Feb 00 - 07:09 PM (#181851) Subject: RE: Welcome New Member From: Hardiman the Fiddler Hey,y'all! After that delicious lunch of Haggis, and a nap to recover from that occupational hazard known as work----which thankfully, you all know I only do once a week---I was up on the roof playing the fiddle. Praise usually runs the mouse, cause' I'm up on the roof---it is the only place they let me shriek the strings. Hardiman |
20 Feb 00 - 10:06 PM (#181937) Subject: RE: Welcome New Member From: Brendy Welcome to this collection of holy, and unholy, artisans my man, and I hope you get as much from this community as I have. Just pitch your tent anywhere you find a reasonably free space - there'll always be some sort of a session within earshot, or discussion worth joining. Incidentally, are you any relation to that fine Norwegian musician Hardanger the fiddler? Breandán |

Used to strum my gitaar & sing some folk type songs w/ my little ones back in the early/mid seventies. They're grown now & want to do the same. I've been sitting @ home too long. if you have any info let me know. thanx, Petal |
21 Feb 00 - 09:46 PM (#182500) Subject: RE: Welcome New Member From: Hardiman the Fiddler Hi Brendy, They only spoke of Hardanger in hushed tones at night when Mom and Pop thought the children were asleep, so I really can't tell you much, but I think it may have been a sordid affair which caused my great uncle to migrate to a different, strange and foreign land. Hardiman |
22 Feb 00 - 12:29 AM (#182590) Subject: RE: Welcome New Member From: katlaughing Hi, Kurt, welcome to you, too. Here is a link to a free sheet music site with lots of links. For really old stuff, click on the Links at the top of the page, and scroll down to the Lester Levy link at Johns Hopkins; they offer older sheet music which you can print direct form images of the original, as long as it is before a certain date, which I cannot remember. Also, be sure to check some of the other links which are available on the Mudcat. Otherwise, like Magpie said, start a new thread with a title about what you are looking for. Chances are very good that someone on here will have it. Praise, does he come down off of the roof on Sundays?**BG** all the best, katlaughing |

22 Feb 00 - 12:26 PM (#182789) Subject: RE: Welcome New Member From: GUEST,GUEST,Praiseatwork We had the best time last night looking at this and other current & old threads. I had been LOL and LMAOWROTF with you all for weeks, but last night we LOL so hard that we have to eat extra today just to have an A to LOWROTF. Two sick twisted heads in the same room and both at the 'Cat are nearly too much. I recommend it to all you who have a SO in your home-- bring a friend to the 'Cat for a F'Rompin' good time. You never know what it may lead to. |
22 Feb 00 - 01:00 PM (#182806) Subject: RE: Welcome New Member From: catspaw49 Hardiman living up to his name huh? Spaw |
22 Feb 00 - 01:14 PM (#182813) Subject: RE: Welcome New Member From: Lonesome EJ Praise, I've had my run-ins with both Catspaw and gargoyle, but for you to call them "two sick twisted heads" is going a bit too far ! |
22 Feb 00 - 01:21 PM (#182815) Subject: RE: Welcome New Member From: Amos I kin guarantee if those two sick heads ever twisted, only one of them would come up off the barroom floor and it ain't the one from San Diego. So they took to virtual fightin' An' when the fight was done Gargoyle looked like a token-ring Lan With a couple 'a tokens gone! A |
22 Feb 00 - 02:36 PM (#182855) Subject: RE: Welcome New Member From: Molly Malone Well, normally I tell bad fiddler jokes, but my sister broke her bow over me last time. So I'll just say, "'allo." Molly |
22 Feb 00 - 07:01 PM (#183016) Subject: RE: Welcome New Member From: Hardiman the Fiddler Hey, y'all Is there such a thing as a good fiddler joke? Hardiman |
22 Feb 00 - 08:01 PM (#183037) Subject: RE: Welcome New Member From: wysiwyg Molly, Wouldn't there have to be such a thing as a good fiddler, which would be a dead one? I like 'em bad, so I'm keeping him alive alive-o. You see when one sick twisted head tells the other one what to do, he is a good man to find. For those who wondered. Why were they wondering again? |
