Lyr Req: NO MORE, MT LAND

Subject: NO MORE, MY LAND
From: simon-pierre

Hi folks,

I'm listening to prisons songs recorded by Alan Lomax (a cheap reedition on Laserlight). There's a beautiful and terrible song on it called «No more, my land» and, as usual, I can't catch all the lyrics (and the song seem to be cut). Can someone post it? Maybe it would be on the new Rounder edition.

Thanks all

SP

Sorry, Simon-Pierre, I spot 5 mistakes in the first posting to this thread, not 1!
1., 2. "NO MORE, MT LAND" should be "No more, my land" in thread title (typo T, all capitals are considered shouting),
3. "NO MORE, MY LAND" should be "No more, my land" in subject (see above)
4. "prisons songs" should be "prison songs"
5. "the song seem to" should be "the song seems to"
Sorry I can't help you with the song, but always remember:

MudGuard,

Gentle, nay, cosy flame on: There are a couple of excellent clues to French language grammar in two of the items you mention:

4. "prisons songs" serves to remind that in French, adjectives must agree with the word they modify; kind of a leftover from the crazy Latin declensions. 'Songs' is plural so any modifiers, in French, would also be plural. Similarly for masc/fem, e.g. le bateau bleu as compared to la chemise bleue.

5. "the song seem to" reminds me that in French, the third person singular never ends with 's' - an honour reserved for the second person singular. It just isn't in the musculature of our Quebecois compatriots to type or write an 's' when thinking of the third person singular. It takes a very conscious effort because it goes against a lifetime habit.

Cosy campfire flame flickers to a few ashen embers.

And I hope to h**l that I got all the codes right, or this post is gonna look very wrong!

Simon-Pierre, I forgot to place ;-) to the end of the first line of my posting. Call this mistake no. 1

Well, all my apologies for my five mistakes. I'm just refreshing, hoping that 'catters are not desesperatly looking in their atlas searching for this mysterious MT land. That gives me another occasion to massacre my english. SP

Why should anyone look in their atlases? You clearly say that MT land is no more!
