05 Mar 00 - 05:53 PM (#190011) Subject: Info on 'Dreaming Man' -- I think From: GUEST,ddw I've recently learned a great prison song, but I got it from a tape with no info on the singers or anything else and I'm hoping somebody will be able to help me out. I've searched DigiTrad and Cowpie without any luck. I think the song is called "Dreaming Man" and the chorus goes like this:
These walls and bars can't hold a dreaming man Any takers on this one? Thanx david |

Leo Kottke''s picture leaves me wondering, though… The song sounds so much older, so I'm wondering where he got it. I don't recognize the authors' names, so I can't place them in a time frame. Any thoughts on that? thanx again. david |

14 Nov 13 - 03:54 PM (#3575643) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: I'll Break Out Again Tonight From: Jim Dixon I think Sanger D. Shafer (one of the co-writers) performs as Whitey Shafer. You can hear his recording on YouTube Other recordings: Darrell McCall, on "Real McCall" 1996 (but I think his single came out in 1972) Merle Haggard on "If We Make It Through December" 1974 Leo Kottke on "Time Step" 1983 Michael Martin Murphey, "Tonight We Ride" 1986. The Country Gentlemen on "The Early Rebel Recordings 1962-1971" 1998. |
