06 Mar 00 - 09:42 AM (#190333) Subject: Quote for The Day From: Amos The following excerpt is from Slate magazines "Today's Papers" service. It is excerpted from Bill Clinton's remarks to the people of Selma, about the bloody civil rights march that took place ther eonly 35 years ago. I have no drum to play for Bill Clinton who has more faces than I want to count. But this quote seems to me to reflect both on an important piece of recent history, and as well on why we keep doing what we do on the Cat and in the world: "[T]hose of you who marched 35 years ago set me free, too, on Bloody Sunday--free to know you, to work with you, to love you, to raise my child to celebrate our differences and hallow our common humanity." |

06 Mar 00 - 11:30 AM (#190390) Subject: RE: BS: Quote for The Day From: wysiwyg I am SURE all God's critters got a place in the choir, but I am having a lot of trouble placing the possum in mine! How does that verse go again? I can hear him, I just can't believe him! And he keeps skittering around to a new spot! Also am struggling with what to do with the more coprophagous of our critters. I can write their verses but lack adequate shovels to manage the habitat. Yet they are part of our voice. Now THEY SAY in a recent study (I'm NOT going downstairs to find which magrag cited it), that you can't get hugs online. [snortle] So apparently not everyone has yet been to the Mudcat, for if they had, the study would have reflected some of last night's doings, eh me mates??? !*!*!*!*!*!*! So if we just get everyone on the planet to join (and contribute big bucks), apparently we CAN change the world. Have You *Hugged* a Newbie, Today? Yee hahhh! |

Of course thats my own opinion, and not shared by everyone. I just think that such erudition without grace is worthless. The people who suffered there would echo the words with grace and deeper feeling. Yours,Aye.Dave |

And you can tell that everything that's happened in the last 6 years is taking it's toll on him. The poor guy looks terrible. I hope he can find a way to regain some of his lost dignity after the election. True, he is a slimy politician, but more importantly, underneath he's still a person like you and me--with more problems and troubles than Carter's got pills. --Mbo |
