Folk music all day on the internet

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it before but there is a site that plays Folk music 24 hours a day. As I write I'm listening to Frances Black earlier they played Judy Collins and James Taylor. There are over 120 stations to select, so far I've tried the Folk music station, as I said, Country Folk, Folk Pop, and one called Ethnic Fusion. The only problem I've had is loss of internet connection, but that's not their fault. They may add an all Irish or all Celtic station in the future.

As you will learn if you log on to Radiofreecash.com they also will pay you to listen to the music, I assume that they expect to sell a ton of commercials. They also pay me for referrals, so if that doesn't bother you Click here Click here, other wise use the URL "www.Radiofreecash.com". PatJoe

I will most definitely check this out, PatJoe. I listen to Webradio part of everyday as I work at home and we have a lack of decently programmed stations here. Thank you, too, for giving us the options for connecting.

Well... I tried RadioFree$$ and I gotta say, I'm not impressed...

Listened for more than half an hour and every song was so choppy it wasn't even funny.. has more to do with their stupid banner adds than with my connection.. maybe, just maybe I'll try it again when I get my cable connection, but the whole thing seem skinda cheep in a pyramid-scam kinda Amway way...

To check it out without becoming a referal Click Here Instead

Even them paying me 20 bucks a month isn't worth it if it doesn't work...

Anyone else try it?

Well, I tried a bit of the folk and I heard overproduced crap by Clannad and something I didn't care for by Bruce somebody or other. The New Age sucked, yawn...BUT

it is worth it ALL to tune into the cat radio...music for cats. Just listened to something by *John Caged*!! This is hysterical. My birds love it because it is mostly bird calls, frogs, and now a guitar with waves in the background or something. I can't wait to go listen to the Dog radio listed! I'm serious phoaks! it's fun and okay for background stuff.

As far as cutting out: I haven't had it happened too often so far. We'll see. If I can entertain my pets enough to get paid $20 a month, that damn near with feed them, make 'em earn theri keep, Rog'll love that!

The selection on Dog Radio is "Dogs Barking" by *butthole suffers*...nasty sounding grunge sh**, with a lot of traffic and dogs barking. So far, my dog is oblivious to it, sound asleep in front of the speaker....LOL!!!

A year or two ago Web Music was scarce as hen's teeth and any programming was welcome. We therefore had a thread on the topic listing the sites that people were aware of.

See

Update of Audio Folk Music on the Web

I will refresh this thread and people can add stations that pass their quality tests. Please tell us what is good about it though.

and

Now with Spinner.com, Live365, Huber, Netradio.com ... (the list goes on and on) the problem is not too few stations, but too many that are programmed by people that have a very poor knowledge of folk and traditional genres (IMHO). I've found Live365 to be the coolest. It simply acts as a referral to locations with unique content. I can even find a good station specializing in Old-Time music.

It seems that even on the Internet Mass Marketing rules and the lowest common denominator/widest appeal is programmed for at locations like Radiofree$$. Who is taking advantage of the Internet to develop true niche programming?

(singing) And then there is the Mudcat RAADIOOOOOooooOOOOOOO! (big finish!)

Pat Joe, I tried your blue clicky to RadioFreeCash, and got an error message, three times. If you want referral credit, it needs to work or we need your name to give on the sign-up document as the referrer.
