AUNT MARTHA'S SHEEP
G D G
Now if you pay attention, I know I'll make you laugh.
We caught the woolly animal and dragged her from her pen.
Aunt Martha she got angry when she heard about the loss.
The Mountie got the message and started in to read:
Just a short time later, about twelve o'clock that night,
Said, "Sorry, boys. Your party I really don't mean to wreck.
He said, "Thanks a lot," and he sat right down and I gave him a piece of the sheep.
He said, "Thanks a lot. You're a darn fine bunch, and your promise I know you'll keep. |
26 Feb 02 - 07:10 PM (#658579) Subject: Lyr Add: YOU CAN'T FOOL A NEWFOUNDLANDER From: Jim Dixon And here's the sequel:
YOU CAN'T FOOL A NEWFOUNDLANDER
Here's the finish of the story I think that I should tell
As they told you in the story, the Mountie joined right in.
Now, when he left, they thought that they had seen the last of he.
Now as they watched him drive away, they all began to boast
They were drinking and were talking 'bout the sheep that they had took,
In the doorway stood Aunt Martha who had come to claim her sheep,
So now they wish the mutton had come from other means,

27 Feb 02 - 08:22 AM (#658923) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Aunt Marthas Sheep - Newfoundland From: MediocreShepherd Thanks to Jim Dixon for the Lyrics of "You can't Fool a Newfoundlander". As a sheep farmer, I absolutely refuse to sing Dick Nolan's wonderfuls song Aunt Martha's sheep. Sing that song to a bunch 'o drinkers, and it will come back to haunt us poor shepherds. I always figgered someone had to be real dense to not know the difference between the taste of Moose and Mutton. Would any mainlanders confuse beef with chicken? Thanks to this thread you have given me alternative lyrics to offer with this popular tune. Just like Abraham's not having to sacrifice Isaac, thanks to a Ram stuck in the thorns, now I don't have to put my mutton up for sacrifice at the request of this tune! |
