This the taste police, stop that naughty Danny boying right now, unless you can produce a license for it. There are certain singarounds where you would be shot on sight for starting that song!

Well, a Happy Saint Patrick's Day to you all too! I'm only a teeny tiny bit Irish, but I once heard a great quote "If you're lucky enough to be Irish, you're lucky enough!" Oh, and I LIKE Danny Boy, though other have pounded it into the ground. And I have it from a VERY reliable authority that I sing it rather beautifully!

Mbo, if you have the ability and the range to do a proper delivery of Danny Boy, and then you have enough left over to do it beautifully I'll listen in the next time your on Here Me Sing. Seriously this is one of the most difficult Irish Folk Songs I've ever come accross and to do it justice requires a special talent - possibly why it gets such short shrift from those who can't.

To quote Meebo himself:
''And I have it from a VERY reliable authority that I sing it rather beautifully!''

...even if you do say so yourself.
...and you wonder why you are targeted for special consideration?
...keep on providing the fodder, and we'll be glad to oblige with the nuclear deterents.

We truly believe, that MBO's ultimate goal is, to die in his own arms.

Actually, Guest, that little trick was thought of years ago by the Mau Mau, and, documented in a book titled Something of Value by Herman Wouk.

Irish jokes... Am I right in understanding that in America nobody understands the ones they make in England because there's no stereotype about the Irish being thick? So they tell the same jokes about Poles. And over in England they don't understand them, because nobody's ever thought about the Poles as being thick. (And in Ireland they tell them about the man from Kerryman.)

Though, of course, a kamikaze pilot who made 40 trips wouldn't be thick at all would he? Though he'd probably need to be pretty ingenious.

And the real Irish jokes that are funny aren't about being thick, they are more about a certain misplaced ingenuity.

Like the one about the fella in the queue for the guillotine, back in days of the French Revolution. And the first one in the queue goes up, and lays his head on the spot, and they pull the handle, and the blade comes rushing down - and stops. So they let him off.

And the same thing happens to the next one, and the next one - and then it comes to the turn of the Irish fella - and he lays himself down and looks up - "Ah" he says, "I think I see your problem!" And he reaches up and fiddles around with the runners for the blade. And they pull the handle...

A man stumbles up to the only other patron in a bar and asks if he could buy him a drink.
"Why of course",comes the reply.
The first man then asks,"Where are you from"?
"I'm from Ireland", replies the second man.
The first man responds: "You don't say,I'm from Ireland too! Let's have another round to Ireland".
"Of course", says the second.
Curious,the first asks:"Where in Ireland"?
"Dublin",comes the reply.
"I can't believe it,me too! Let's have another round of drinks to Dublin".
"Of course".
The second man can't help himself,so he asks,"What school did you go to"?
"Saint Mary's", replies the first man."I graduated in '62".
"This is becoming unbelievable",they say in unison.
About that time,in comes one of the regulars and sits down at the bar."What's up" he asks the bartender.
"Nothing much",replied the bartender."The O'Malley twins are drunk again"!

the words to Danny Boy , I believe were written by a German who lived in Portishead, that is a small town on the top of a hill just outside Bristol, rather than the Band who also come from Portishead. Do not worry about being a bit premature, here in france St Valentines is celebrated at any or all times in Febuary, and when thats over it is St Pats until easter.

My current favourite is the Irishman who always orders 2 pints of Guiness in his local. One day the bartender asks him why and he tells him that his brother has gone to America but wherever they are they always buy a pint for the other brother. So, one day he comes in and only orders one pint " Ah, Jaysuz" says the Bartender, " I'm so sorry about your brother" " Not at all" says the man " I've given up drinking"

For Katrina R.
by: Misha

I wrote you a
St. Patrick's Day Poem

Moikka

Far away out of sight,
beyond the shadowy moonbeams
of the pale moonlight.

Far away from the sparkle in
your lovely eyes.
I will always remember You
and simply ask God why?

Why there was a Moondance,
and a Brand New Day.
Why you liked Chris Isaak,
and why You Sang To Me.

You once loved me,
now you are long gone.
A part of me has slipped away,
I couldn't be more alone.

Far away my ship is lost at sea.
An eternity remembering that
St. Patrick's Day,
forgotten though I be.
Remembering there was once
a place for Us,
a place of You and Me.

Never again to feel your presence
or your warm embrace.
Our eyes will never meet again.
Your kisses will not brighten my days.
Never again will I touch the soft
contour of your face.

Our fiery passion will never again
fill our nights.
Dreams of our future,
no longer in our sights.

My Sweet love,
I will always remember You,
even if you have chosen to forget me.
I will always remember Us as I
traverse this cruel and lonely sea.

Still I ask God why.
As tears still flood my weary eyes,
pain still ravages my broken heart.
I am still so in love with you.
Wishing our days of smiles, of love
and of passion hadn't ended in such
a sad 'goodbye'.

I Miss You !
Mina Rakastan Sinua+
Forever Me...

What is the difference between a St Paddy's Day parade and a Nazi rally? Bugger all, really. Both are an arrogant assertion of race. Danny Boy is sentimental shit and boring shit at that!

Well silly person, ours used to be led by Sam Smith, an African American who used to dance the jig until diabetes took his legs. And the little girls from the Omak Indian School always used to march in it. And I think our Chinese-American governor had a few words to say at it...it's for everyone (hopefully...). mg

Ah, Speakerofthetruth, t'is great to hear from you a whole month before the GREAT DAY. Sure and I'll go on the piss from now 'til then to prepare myself for a magnificent rendition of Danny Boy at Reveys of Carlingford on Paddy's Day. Of course, the secret of the song is that you must be totally pissed to do it justice and your audience needs to be even more pissed than you to enjoy it. And wouldn't it be lovely if we could organise young Harry Windsor to lead the parade down O'Connell Street.
