I am preparing for a funeral and was struck by a song sung by an Irish Tenor - John Mc? (something) I did catch that the Writer was Eric Bogle and the song was "One Small Star" Does any one know where I could get the lyrics to read or even better the music - if I could find someone to sing it! Thanks for your help! Jim

Its an Eric Bogle song. On his album Small Miracles, "Written for the parents of those poor wee kiddies who died in Dunblane, Scotland." I have to take my kids to the park but will transcribe it for you when I get back.

Yes it was John Mcdermott that I heard - thanks! Will try to get the CD. Is there sheet music?

Sophocleese; I would deeply appreciate the lyrics when you get the chance, sincethe words are most important to me at this time.

Or from anybody else for that matter.

Jim

Jim, I also have the recording. I listened to it last night, but it's a little difficult to tell the words. I can't put the time in to do it well till this weekend. Will that be too late?

From: Hoolet

"One Small Star" is on "The Emigrant and the Exile", Eric Bogle and John Munro.

When I need to feel you near me, I stand in this quiet place,
With the silver light of countless stars falling on my face.
Though they all shine so brightly, somehow it comforts me to know
That some who burn the brightest died an eternity ago.

CHORUS: But your light still shines.
It's one small star to guide me
And to help me hold back the dark.
Your light's still shining in my heart.

I'm learning how to live without you, though I never thought I could,
And even how to smile again, and I never thought I would,
And to cherish the heart's memories that can bring you back to life,
Though some caress me gently and some cut me like a knife.

Can your soul be out there somewhere beyond the infinity of time?
I guess you've found some answers. Now I'll have to wait for mine,
Till my light joins with yours someday.

Thanks Hoolet for doing that. I meant to get it done yesterday but my plans went awry. The last verse doesn't seem to have been fully copied though so here it is in full.

"Can your soul be out there somewhere beyond the infinity of time?
I guess you've found some answers. Now I'll have to wait for mine
Till my light joins with yours one day to shine through time and space,
And one day far in the distance, play upon some stranger's face."

bbc, Hoolet, and sophocleese:

I can't thank you enough for your help. I have been a bit involved and just got a chance to look back for these lyrics. Thank Heaven, things have not yet become bad enough that I needed these word - but it is not far off.

This is a big help so THANKS!
