Hello - all!

I have just released a CD comprised of Irish pub music, and originals. I would appreciate some feedback. Sample of my songs are ony my website for simple downloads.

Would anyone like to give a few seconds of their time to check it out?

If so, please respond to this posting -and I will happily send you the link.

Is this CD just for playing on 'wind-up' gramophones?

Or am I now getting totally paranoid?

I hope you do want genuine feedback... From listening to your sound clips, I'd say you are certainly able to sing and play, but you could do with better material. Irish- American pub music (note: this is notIrish pub music)is not my area and the audience you are aiming for may love the songs you do, in which case take no notice of my opinion. But

"I'll tell it to you with me brogue
So I sound like I come from I-re-land
I may have never bin there..."
makes me cringe, as does the fake 'brogue'. I would suggest you find some real Irish songs, (there are plenty that haven't been done to death, available right here on the Mudcat forum and in the Digital Tradition database) and sing them in your own accent.

Sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear.

Noreen

Sullsinger, I also do not like fake brogues, mine is the real thing, but you do have a pleasant voice and I enjoyed 3 of the 4 songs I listened to (Danny Boy really needs a rest). I agree with Noreen as far as using your own accent and there are lots of Irish songs out there that I am sure you could do a great job with them, Please be yourself and things will work out great. Listen to some old Ruthie Morrisey records, she was an american who sang Irish songs without putting on the brogue,

Best wishes to you.

Great voice, wasted on trash. But tragically there is a market for this sort of stuff in Chicago,so maybe Katie's opted for (or been steered towards) the commercial soft option. I can only echo Noreen's words - it made me cringe.

You have a great voice--reminds me of Dolores Keane. But you should do some songs that are slow and soulful with it. These songs are the fun drinking songs that everyone's seems to be familiar with so I guess that may help sell CDs, but you can and should do a wider variety.

Sullsinger,

I'm new to this and not terribly cybersavvy. Can you tell me how you did this and how I can listen to your songs? I have just recorded an album of original songs in Nashville. Two of the cuts have a very distinctive Irish flavor-Oxymoron & Gee, Golly, Wow Man @ Sid Brantley, 2008-you could check them out at my website www.sidbrantley.com Thanks.
