And a lovely apology it was, too, GUEST. I think it must have been something of a shock to see how quickly that simple comment got built up into such a humongous thread!! I have noticed that MC's threads seem to move much faster than the forums I'm accustomed to (when they _do_ move). I posted a Lyr. request yesterday, got only 2 responses, and come on today after getting home from a long day at work and find a dozen answers. It helps if you can keep a thread at the top of the list where they will see it, I think. I was surprised when my answer to those first two answerers put my Lyr request back up on top, but also pleased by the wonderful logic of it. The more active it is, the more active it is likely to become....except now I find we can also "refresh"!

Guest, welcome to the Mudcat. Over the past 2-3 months, we've had a few *guest* posters who were fairly nasty; glad to see you are not one of them. Thanks for having the guts to show us that.

Now, are ya taking suggestions on a Mudcat name? Besides "Rude Guest"? You will find a creatve lot here, so I am sure they can help you with it, if you're having any probs making a decision.**BG**=**Big Grin**

Well one of the messages above was signed, "Sincerely," and the person obviously has the skill of outright honesty, so-- I offer that for Guest's consideration.

But a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.... and welcome to the Mudcat!

As has been said to many, yer among yer own kind now, mate, an' God help ye!

GUEST: Pick a name and jump on in. I'm really glad you came back, and I think you'll be happy you did, also. The responses to your "frustrated" thread are indicative of the kind of folks who haunt the Mudcat, and that's why I've kept coming back. And you probably will find answers if you are persistent, I know that I have. Maybe I missed it, but I'm still wondering what your original unanswered questions are. I'll bet the answers are here somewhere. The mudcatters solved a song mystery for me that had been plaguing me for TWENTY YEARS!!

Subject: RE: Apology from the GUEST

Uhm, GUEST, one caveat here... the most common reason why a thread question isn't answered is that no one knows the answer. If you asked us something really specific, like "Where can I find the words to Whufflegumpus?" and none of us know that song or tune, your question likely to slide right off the bottom of the page.
If we have any ideas about where to find the info, we'll tell you, but "I haven't a clue" seems to be the one thing that people are unwilling to write down.
Blessings,
Barbara

Here, then they can cut and paste mine...

I haven't a clue.

Seriously, for awhile I was keeping up woith 1-post messages to refresh them, but I got busy. Maybe that was when his questions sank to the floor of the Mudcat's deeps, and I'm sorry.

EASY! Whufflegrumpus is Snuffalufagus' (from Sesame Street) weird folk singing brother. He can whoop up on blues slide guitar...you can't image how good a trunk is at weilding a bottleneck slide...

Yer right about that, Mbo. Can't imagine using a trunk for that. Although I can think of a few other things it would be sooo handy for.... and let the steamy images fall where they may!

Funny thing about Mbo's hypothesis that Whufflegrumpus being Snuffalufagus' weird folk singing brother. Snuffie actually is a folksinger, or at least the puppeteer who played his front end years ago is a folk singer. I can't remember his name offhand but I remember spending a very enjoyable evening at his Manhattan apartment playing "the old songs". After that, whenever I heard him singing as "The Count". Snuffie, or any of the other characters he played, I remembered that he could happily be singing "Willow Garden", "Banks of the Ohio" or Rosewood Casket" just as well as "THe ALphabet Song", "Don't Count Me Out" etc.

Wasnt Snuffalufagus the little dark haired, muppet like guy in the Clinton cabinet? Steven Snuffalufagus, wasnt it? Had a stalker after him or something... Hmmm, you know me, no interest in politics...
