Hey all, just wonderin' if anyone is familiar with this OrpheuM A ImperatoR f-hole guitar. I've seen other old instruments with the same brand name but never a guitar. Does anyone have a clue as to it's age, value? The serial # stamped on the back of the headstock is 571.

Orpheum was best known as a banjo maker but they sold a line of guitars that were made largely by Kay. I have a f-hold arched top Orpheum in my collection. It's nice but I prefer my S.S.Stewart.

I own an Orpheum C Imperator for almost 20 years now.I bought it at Gruhn's in Nashville.Played hundreds of gigs with it.Implanted a Barcus Berry "Hot Dot "below the bridge.Works like a dream. It's a beautiful guitar to look at too;carved top, flamed maple back and sides, nice inlays in the fingerboard.Open back gold plated Grovers.
Virtually identical to Bacon brand archtops made in the mid-thirties.
The guitar is still in ecxellent condition!!
Serial nr is 534,

Hi, I just bought an old f-hole guitar with a slotted headstock but solid behind the headstock. It has a V-shaped neck and a faux grain on the top back and sides. It looks to be very old (c 1920's). There is some letters inside like EcHIEL or ?? ahrd to tell. There is a number 5 by one of the f-holes. Any ideas?

I have an old Orpheum No. 1 F-hole Arch Top acoustic. I have been trying to find out info on it- age, value etc. I have found a little info on the Orpheum companies history. One notable thing is that the guitar's peghead has a thin layer of formica with the Orpheum name printed on it and glued to the wood. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
thank you

i have a 50's era orpheum arch top the finish is nice and a sun burst. it has a p-90 imitation pickup. it sounds like these guitars are a real mystery. mine has no serial number, and no mode number. only a pencil mark on the inside of the body that reads " c-393 " has a thick mahogany neck with what apears to be gibson style open book headstock. although the truss rod is not a gibson type. the fret board is nice dark ebony not colored stain. the body is a three ply maple laminet. it plays good and action is reasonably low. i know orpheum was known as a budget brand guitar made by other companies. has no characteristics of kay, harmony, or gretch like ive seen in photos online. is it worth anything? email jonahshore@yahoo.com with awnsers. i can send photos.

I have a Style A, Serial #1137, Orpheaum A Imperator Arched Top (Spruce) F Hole acoustic 6 string guitar. Mahogany neck, fiddleback Maple sides and back. Mother of Pearl inlay "Orpheum A Imperator on the top, and mother of pearl inlay dots for fret markings. Any Idea of its value or who would be interested in buying. I played it for many years, and the tension of the strings has caused a small crack in the upper side of the body. I believe it could be fixed easily. If you have any information, or are interested, please email dmiles51@cableone.net. I can email pics.
