About four or more years ago I heard a song i think sung by Heather Alexander called Lammas Night... it wasn't the Lammas Night that is on the Folksong Database, but it was about a woman and a wizard... can anyone help me?

From what I could find out it was written by Mercedes Lackey (sci fi writer) and is availbe for sale Click here Scroll about half way down the page. She also has a book by the same title.

Sorcha is absolutely right; I recognized the title and the description.
If you read the lyrics you will find it has a chilling ending; it ends with a question. Reading the short story that preceded (or "co-ceded", I'm not sure which) it would give you little additional information; the lyrics tell it all!

I was in a band for a while that did an original song called Lammas Night loosely based on the Burns poem...careful it is a bit racy! ;0

um, BTW, it may be that Mercedes Lackey wrote a book entitled Lammas Night, but the most famous sci-fi/fantasy novel of that title is written by Katharine Kurtz; based on the true story of some English witches who endangered their own lives by working magic to stop Hitler from invading England during Wolrd War 2...
