Tune Notation in "ASCII" Format

It would be greatly appreciated if someone could point to an on-line example of ASCII tune notation.

While attempting to prepare the tune of "Simple Gifts" I realized that I did not understand how to indcate 1/8th notes.

Here is a bar of 3/4 with a crotchet, two quavers, and four semiquavers.

The example I am looking for is more like...

Key of C 3/4 : G,c,c/d,e,c/ etc.

Perhaps it is called "ANSI"
