Well, Dulci, WE will! Which do you prefer, the old original or the modernized version? I got both. Old version by The Chestnut Grove Quartet, newer by Emmylou Harris and another by Bill Clifton and Jimmy Gaudreau.

An earlier thread with a link to an even earlier one Pretty well covers it.

Sorry Dulci, I don't do or have a midi for you, but this song is VERY well done by John McCutcheon on his album, "The Wind That Shakes The Barley," an early album of his that's on cassette, but not on CD to my knowledge. If you're a "Hammered" Dulci, you need to get it even if you have already gotten the tune.

I found all those I can't find the tune. I'll take any or all versions you have. I'm easy to please. Just need a copy for our folk society songbook.

...I've been noodling with this for a few days...although I still have to listen to the John McCutcheon tune of the verses, the chorus goes this way: A when I come to the....D silent sea...A who will E sing for A me.... I E wonder A who will E sing for A me...
(note, I am learning yet ANOTHER hymn!!!!) When I locate the record I'll tell you the rest unless someone beats me to it...harp

I have the chords and the words. Our songbook is only lyrics and chords but some of us that play other instruments (other than a dulcimer) are wanting the notes to the songs also. I'm not real sure why but it seemed like a good idea at the time but is proving to be hard to find some songs.

Sorry, I must be missing something here. If you have the words and chords, good. Do you know the tune? I mean, do you sing it? If so, its not difficult to transcribe the melody line on a piano or guitar. Or am I missing what you want?

Some do, I don't know this tune. I'm just in charge of finding the ones we can't find sheet music for. Guess we could figure it out but there has been several that we haven't been able to find and takes time to figure them out and write them down. Not much time with working.

Catspaw, I just sent her an RA version. We've done this before, so we were not explaining ourselves as well as we might. I also can get her the sheet music, but not any time soon as I am too busy with high school track to get up to the Ozark Folk Center to get it.

Sorry, probably should have put sheet music? I'm still learning. Have already learned a lot from you all. Thanks
