I'm looking for the lyrics to a Wolfe Tones song called "The First of May". I've done quite a bit of searching and would appreciate any help!

THanks a million...

When we were small
And Christmas trees were tall
We used to love while others used to play.
Don't ask me why. The time has passed me by.
Nothing seems to be the same old way.
Now we are tall and Christmas trees are small,
And you don't ask the time of day;
But you and I, our love will never ever die;
And guess who cried(?) come first of May.

The apple trees that grew for you and me--
I watched the apples falling one by one.
And I recall the moment of them all:
The day I kissed your cheeks and you were gone.
Now we are tall, and Christmas trees are small,
And you don't ask the time of day.
But you and I, our love will never ever die;
And guess who cries the first of May.
And guess who cries come first of May.

(Not sure of the "guess who -?- the first of May")

From the Wolfe Tones "Let the People Sing" album.

Capitals and punctuation added. --JoeClone, 1-May-03.

The line in all instances is 'And guess who'll cry come first of May'. The attribution is 'Gibb, Abigal Music'.

Cheers, Stewie.

It's a Bee Gees song written by Barry Gibb

One of the loveliest versions was on a TV show 'An Audience With Lulu' when she sang it with her ex-hubbie Maurice Gibb (brother of BG)

A coupla months later he died - Very sad!
