Any Mudcat in the Islands?

OK, this may be strictly motivated by my recent vent in the "Elian" thread, and I really meant the Carribbean Islands (didn't want to mis-spell it in the header though) but has there ever been a Mudcatter from Jamaica or Barbados or St Kitts, or Haiti, or even.....Cuba!!?

I get such a kick out of Skarpi using English, which must be at times bloody difficult, or Simon-Pierre (I even made an attempt at answering a personal note from him in French...and he was damn gracious)

Makes me wonder if some lurker from the Islands may have wanted to check in occasionally but found the two prominent languages here (English and Gaelic) a bit daunting. T'would be fun though.

Hallo Rick , jú það getur verið erfitt að skrifa stundum á Ensku og oft þarf maður að leita að réttum orðum.Það væri líka gaman að vita hvort það væri fólk frá öðrum eyjum í heiminum á mudcat. þú skilur þetta er það ekki ?.

Allt það besta skarpi Íslandi.

Bonjour Skarpi. Comment ce vas ce soir? La plume de m'a tente...Oh to hell with it! What did you say? What did you say? Or do I have to get Big Mick or Katlaughing to tell me?

I should have asked whether any Mexican or Nicarauguan folks have ever visited as well.(and any other countries around there that I can't think of at the moment.

Rick, I made the mistake of thinking my son-in-law, from Antigua, would be bi-lingual. Not so, raised in a strictly British atmosphere, although with a certain Island patois mixed in, nothing more than we've seen in the Colloquialisms threads, so, darlin' just remember there are British Carribean islands where English is the first language.

This is so very interesting, though, I hope some Mudders from there do show up. I just finished James Michenor's book, Carribean. While fictionalised, his research was exhaustive, and he does mix some non-fiction into all parts, explaining which is which. He also includes a great bibliography. I learned so much from reading it, of the history of the "Spanish Lake". My son-in-law is eager to read it now.

Good idea for a thread, Rick, thanks.

Skarpi darlin', I am going to have to take some more lessons! For now, I can only say:

Góða nótt og sofðu vel! And:

Allt það besta, katlaughing

Hi Callie. Nahh, all us Aussies, Canucks, Brits and Yanks are buddies around here now. I'm trying to see if there are any potentially exotic Catters lurkin' around. I don't even know if ANY folksinger in the Islands is on the net. I think we've got one in Norway, and someone on Sark.....ohhhh, how 'bout a Roooskie? Any Russians ever post?

Oh all right Andres, and Mark. Perhaps when we first met you, you were exotic..but now you're just part of the gang. I REFUSE to discribe Bill Sables as "EXOTIC"!

Bill. You're e-mail doesn't work. Thanks for the lovely buttons. We'll wear 'em proudly!

Russians? Poles? Jamaicans? GREENLANDERS?..Now that would be exotic! I know they have folksingers there, 'cause I met one.

How about if I move to Saba? Would that count? Karen and I really considered that pre-kids. At times we both consider it NOW!

Spaw, if I continue singing and Mudcatting and don't get my project (large computer application) in time, I'll have to move to Borneo. That will surely be exotic ! LOL
