Lyr Req: Meet Me Tonight in Dreamland

Hello, folks... My mom wants to find the lyrics to "Meet Me Tonight in Dreamland." Anyone remember that one? Mom's in her mid seventies, so I suppose this is a thirties or forties song.

Also, confession: I posted another question (last month?) under the name Mimsey & the Borogroves, but for the life of me, I can't remember what I asked about, and thus can't find it using the search!! (Blush, blush, wiggle, wiggle) Uh... anybody remember what or... even when? I know that's a lot to ask. Much gratitude for help.

Thank you, MMario and Mary!! My mom will flip! and thanks, Mario, for the reminder boost of what my previous question was.... I'll try to do a better job of keeping track in the future.

All the best, Mimsey

I believe Sandy Bradley and the Small Wonder String Band (a/k/a Greg and Jere Canote) recorded this song a few (10? 15?) years ago. Could be wrong, though, happens all the time.

Aloha,

From Indiana University Sheet Music Collections:

MEET ME TO-NIGHT IN DREAMLAND
Words, Beth Slater Whitson. Music, Leo Friedman.
Chicago: Will Rossiter, © 1909.

1. Dreaming of you: that's all I do.
Night and day for you I'm pining;
And in your eyes, blue as the skies,
I can see the love-light softly shining.
Because you love me there it seems,
Pray meet me in the land of dreams.

CHORUS: Meet me tonight in Dreamland, under the silv'ry moon.
Meet me tonight in Dreamland, where love's sweet roses bloom.
Come with the love light gleaming in your dear eyes of blue.
Meet me in Dreamland, sweet dreamy Dreamland. There let my dreams come true.

2. Sighing all day when you're away,
Longing for you, dear, you only;
In blissful dreams, sweetheart, it seems
One is never sad and never lonely;
And if you'll come with me to stay,
We'll live in Dreamland night and day.

PBS showed a wonderful documentary on Dreamland. For sci-fi buffs, the news footage of the burning of Dreamland formed a backdrop for Gorgo's annihilation of NYC.
An amazing if somewhat non-PC place with a town of tiny homes for dwarfs, an infant hospital featuring incubator babies on display, and enough electricity to light up the sky for miles. It nurned when some hot tar set fabric afire and the whole mess got out of control.

Joe Hill used this tune for his "The White Slave" (in the DT, I believe).
