23 Apr 00 - 02:40 PM (#216604) Subject: HELP: Deleting Personal Messages From: Uncle_DaveO I cant figure out how to delete a couple of personal messages I received. I've read them, and then they just sit there. I keep getting the note that there are two active personal messages for me. Yes, I have looked in the FAQ file, but it is long and rather redundant, duplicative, repetitive, and supererogatory, so I can't say that I've read every post there. I have found no reference to how to delete a personal message after it's been read. I assume (since I don't think I'm all that much stupider than any other Catter, there must be others who have or have had the problem. Please elucidate. Dave Oesterreich |
23 Apr 00 - 02:45 PM (#216605) Subject: RE: HELP: Deleting Personal Messages From: catspaw49 See the "Archive" thing after the message? Hit it and the message goes to your personal archive. Then there is a place that says (on your personal message page)..."View your Archive" You can save them there or simply delete them by clicking on Delete after the meeage on the archive page. Spaw |

23 Apr 00 - 03:07 PM (#216618) Subject: RE: HELP: Deleting Personal Messages From: Mark Cohen Any way of sending a bunch of them to the archive all at once, without having to reload the page each time? I did figure out the archive, but not until I'd accumulated a pile of messages. |
23 Apr 00 - 03:38 PM (#216627) Subject: RE: HELP: Deleting Personal Messages From: Sorcha If you are quick on the clickie button and keep the mouse moving. Sometimes I can get a whole screen's worth deleted before it goes blip. |
23 Apr 00 - 06:31 PM (#216697) Subject: RE: HELP: Deleting Personal Messages From: Joe Offer Gee, Dave, is the FAQ thread all that bad? I've been trying to keep it rather concise, and to put formal headings in bold letters for the permanent messages that hold most of the information. Guess I'll have to take another look and see what else I should edit out. It's tough, though - explaining computer procedures is usually a wordy business. Actually, I cut out a lot of stuff I hoped people could figure out for themselves- and one of the things I intentionally omitted was deleting personal messages. Max designed this place so it's fairly unbreakable, and fairly easy to use. Just click on the links you find, and explore. -Joe Offer- |

I just keep keying in the number corresponding to the link I want, and only reload the page at the end. Then I jump into the archive, and delete to the end. Skipping the ones I want to keep a while. Score another point to the text browsers. 8-) |
23 Apr 00 - 09:21 PM (#216767) Subject: RE: HELP: Deleting Personal Messages From: Gary T To Joe, and no offense to Dave, when I looked at personal messages with "Archive" by each one (the same way "Trace" is by each thread on the forum list), and "View Your Archive" at the bottom of the personal message page, I found it self-explanatory. |
24 Apr 00 - 12:23 AM (#216844) Subject: RE: HELP: Deleting Personal Messages From: Sandy Paton I've never managed to click on more than one "delete" at a time. Wish I could hold down the "ctrl" key and do a bunch of 'em at once, as one can do with E-mail. Is there a way? Sandy (reigning cyberklutz champion) |
24 Apr 00 - 01:43 AM (#216872) Subject: RE: HELP: Deleting Personal Messages From: katlaughing George, would you please explain what you mean? Thanks. Sandy, I've only been able to do two at a time, like Sorcha said, by being quick with the click. |
