Sláinte Alison,

Many thanks. I'm a bit weepy-eyed seeing your post, as soon as I fired into Mudcat. "Ta' wee tart"..;)

The shout was on a tab - hate to think what it'll cost in the morning. It's 7:45pm just walked in the door and had a quick tea. Am just checking current threads, before switching to "Mudcat Wireless" for an SSC on Episode XXXII, that I just missed live.

BTW - Alas, I drank the last of my bottle of "Oban" single malt at the pub tonight. It's been there since August, labelled Not to be removed from Bar - only two nips per night. I can only toast you in NZ made "Wilson's", not the "real stuff", but damned good for a' that..;)

Well, I'm off to Mudcat Radio, Episode XXXII(Archive). Anyone else want to join me for an SSC???? It seems it could take me back a couple or three years - sounds like it was good...

Here's the Klickety Blue Bar Klickety Aye for the Forum.

Sammy, it's your birthday! Happy Birthday Sam.
Is Samuel your real name?
Okay, hear is me playing Happy Birthday on the banjo....
Twang, twang, twang, twang, twang
Twang, twang, twang, twang, twang
Twang, twang, twang, DEAR SAM
Twang, twang, twang, twang, twang

Well here is a toast to Sam. Hope you don't mind if I toast you with my morning Starbucks coffee. It is about the strongest thing I can drink around this time of day.

May you have many, many happy birthdays to come bringing you good health and much happiness Sam.
All the best,
Bonnie

Hiya, Sam! No apologies, no regrets, had a good time, eh?**BG** SO, glad you are feeling younger now.:-)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Ah, I did send your message out to Colin. Seems like the two o'you should be in sync or something. BTW, my best friend back in New England has a birthday today, too, so I guess it is a hell of a good day to be born! And, my dad is a Taurus, too, so they are some of my very favourite people!

Thanks, Alison, don't know why I didn't think of this when I saw it in the radio thread.

I should have guessed it was your birthday, what with you putting a sort of sentimental poem, on the thread.
Would that mean that you will be middle-aged in a few short years or not?
Happy Birthday to you, Billy the bus,

G'day,

Bonnie, so it was you playing the banjer I heard in my dreams. Many thanks. Actually, my "real" name is Charles Sampson (I think), but I've just been "Sam" for more years than I care to remember. BTW - I'm on coffee too.

kat - I only got to hear the first 10 minutes or so of Episode XXXII - I'm "at the end of the line" here, and sometimes reception gets slow. As soon as I made my first post, "Streaming audio" slowed to a dribble, then to a drip. When my screen hadn't "refreshed" to the main Mudcat "Theads" page, some 15 minutes after the post, I gave up, went off-line, tried reloading my browser, even did a re-boot, but alas, my link to Mudcat was as dead as the Dodo, so I went to bed..**sigh** - BUT it was a good day!

Ken, cobber. Guess I must face the fact that middle age is just around the corner. At the moment I'm 57 years young.

Mbo - Billy is at the Doctor's today, having a "pre-med" ready for his "official" 6-month "Medical Check" on Monday, wish us luck. I'd "cancelled" this morning, just in case, but actually drank very little. However, I promise to be vary careful driving Billy's little brother "Tommy Toyota" this arvo.

Thanks Thosp

LOL to you all - Sam

anyway

My best to you Sam......I'm glad you've come and I'm glad you've stayed. I will be overjoyed when you leave, but that's another story.

Tell Billy that Astrid the Astro sends her love and hopes he has good news from the Doc.

Hi Helen, 'twas indeed a happy, tho' confused Birthday - alas, Dr Trev didn't have enough time to check Billy thoroughly yesterday (Fri) - so I hope he's up to scratch for Mondays "Real Test". Must off and fix "Tommy Toyota's" rear vision mirror, that some twerp broke yesterday. Something like that always happens just before the "BIG DAY".

Will let you know how he got on, here, on Monday.

BTW - Mbo, Tommy and I came as close to a prang as I've ever come (with passengers) - not my fault! Fortunately, a rather elderly resident, with failing eyesight, saw us in time to avoid us, when coming round a very tight corner, on MY side of the very narrow road. I couldn't take evasive action, the side of the mini-bus was only inches off a rock cliff. Such is life....;)

Cheers - Sam

Oh oh oh! I know I'm REAL late in posting this, but I didn't see it before! Happy (Belated) Birthday, SAM!!! You, not too long ago, helped me with a search and obviously put a lot of time and effort into it. It was so sweet of you, I wanted to say Happy Birthday! Let's see...where should we send the replacement bottle of Oban? lol

Lil Neo, right up to the day she died, my mum called be Charles - and I wondered who she was talking about. Only my finest female friends (of the opposite sex) called me "Sammy", so please do - even though it reminds me of a sad Cyril Tawney song "Sammy's Bar". LOL

Beanster - if you happened to put a label "Sam, Stewart Island, New Zealand" on that bottle of "Oban", I'm sure it would get from Oban (Scotland) to me in Oban (NZ) - pack it well though, it's precious. Incidentally the book "Whisky Galore" just arrived on "Interloan" yesterday - from "Lower Hutt City Library" - I'm re-reading the very same book that led me to an interest in the Hebrides (and whisky) in the 50s.

Keep an eye out for a Madcap Mudcat Prank, come Mayday.. involving Whisky Galore. Somehow, I think Mudcat could give me a fantastic 6oth birthday present. "My lips are sealed" - wait for the international call for help :Mayday"...

Billy/Sam/Charles

I've been out today with the Shakespeare Morris Men dancing through Stratford-on-Avon, and I thought to myself - if we can celebrate Shakespeare's birthday a week late, a few days late won't matter for Billy. So at our first refreshment sto in the Old Thatch Tavern (how much hair have you got?) I raised (and then sank) a pint in your honour.

Today we were joined by Chipping Campden and Green Man Morris Men, but the Campdens had cashed in their chips by 2pm, and the Green Men were decidedly green by 4, so we had to finish alone.

Hope you have many more!

Belated happy birthday and nice "meeting" you on hearme last night. I must have a go at Sammy's Bar there sometime. I love the song but never hear anyone singing it... Thinking of the current "Cars to avoid thread", "I don't need no Yankee car..."

G'day Snuffy - I feel most honoured that you sank a pint for me. What was it? Mild, Old Dark, Scrumpi? Hopefully not ice-cold lager? And at "The Old Thatch Tavern" - that describes me well as to age, hairyness, and "spiritual" home. You'll find all three at my Fluid Druid website. It's a prank that didn't quite come off - "Hokonui" is still in Norway. (My lips are sealed until Mayday). Any chance of pointing me to a URL of "The Old Thatch Tavern", or sending a photo (pref with SMM in said establishment) via e-mail. I always like to know where I've been drinkin' - if only by "proxy"..;)

"The last boat is leavin'.." - must off to chef at a Lions Club BBQ, for a group of tourists, who'll go out on tour tomorrow with "the other Bus Company"..;)

Again LOL to all above.

Aroha - Sam

Jon, again, many thanks for setting up HearMe. You've no idea the thrill I had, to hear so many Mudcatters yesterday. Praise has checked out my Stewart Island site, and aked if "Haeremai" (Maori for welcome/come-to-me/etc..) sounds like "HearMe" - certainly does, promise I'll pronounce it "on-line" once when I get a mic' (and daytime time) to link up again. Hopefully in the next fortnight.

Sam,

You were toasted in Wadworth's 6X, which is a beautiful bitter brewed at Devizes, which is not too far from Dorset - sorry I couldn't make it Palmers.

The Old Thatch is not one of our regular haunts and I don't have any pics of the Morris Men there, but I'll try to send you one of us in our natural (non-dancing) habitat.

Snuffy,

Please, on bended, (Morris) knee, with your "bowyangs" (bits of string ye tie below the knee) - did you make a Typo on the booze - was it not "Wad(s)worths"? First Bus company I drove for.

And, furthermore, I don't recall mentioning (but probably did) that my 4-bears were from Dorset.....

AND, furthermore, if I have to see the Shiksbeer Murris Mean in "Naddural habbittat" - don't bother - my computer is a bit old, and doesn't read "horizontally extended" Stereoscope.

AND, farver, furthermore, when you are taken to the Assizes at Devizes termorrow, for exposing your K-knee-kaps-in-pubic......

Give us a call....

Billy and Sam always respond to "Lorst Korls"

Have a bloody good "Knees-up" termorrow, OH "Shickered-spear-ah-IN" MOORish Men?

Have a beaut day, Snuffy, "Knees up Mother Brown"

Sam

The brewery is actually called Wadworths, but most people in England think that it's Wadsworths, so take your pick and shovel.

Despite having to be up early tomorrow , I couldn't abandon our regular Sunday night quiz team drinking session (season is Nov to Mar - and practise is Apr to Oct). I didn't drink any 4-bears but I did have a pint of Tiger (from Leicester, not Singapore), and a pint of Black Sheep (typecasting, eh?).

Well it's midnight here in Ingerland, and I'll be dancing at 5.30 which means waking up at 4, so I'll bid you a good knight, sweet prince.
