Kia ora, (G'day)

Despite coming from the land of "Once were warriors", i must admit I never saw the film (or any other in years) - no movie theatre here, and I never have time on my rare visits to the mainland.

However, if you get the lyrics, and need help with Maori word meanings, get in touch. I'll help as much as I can.

Interesting. Here we have a Hawaiian band (Kapena) singing about a Maori prophet (Rua Kenana) using a Jamaican rhythm. You can hear a generous sound sample of Kapena's recording at their website. However, I don't think Kapena performed it on the soundrack.

allmusic says RUA KENANA was written by D. Grace.

Lyrics below copied from copied from a Hawaiian music fan site:

RUA KENANA

CHORUS:
 Am
Ooh yeah Ooh yeah Ooh yeah.
                                 G
Scoodily woodily woop bop bayo whoa.
                Am
Rua left his mark on this world.

Ooh yeah Ooh yeah ooh yeah.
                                  G
Scoodily woodily woop bop bayo whoa.
                Am
Rua left his mark on this world.

Rua Kenana, Tuhoe prophet from the Uruwera.
G             Am
O Rua, Rua Kenana.

Rua Kenana, Tuhoe prophet from the Uruwera.
G             Am
O Rua, Rua Kenana.
He told his people not to go to war.
Let the white man fight the white man's war.
O Rua, Rua Kenana.
He told his people not to go to war.
Let the white man fight the white man's war.
O Rua, Rua Kenana. CHORUS

He lived there at Maungapohatu.
Children of the mist is what they called you.
O Tuhoe, Tuhoe nui paru.
He lived there at Maungapohatu.
Children of the mist is what they called you.
O Tuhoe, Tuhoe nui paru. CHORUS

[Recorded by Kapena on "Kapena Is Da Crew," 1999.]

Just to make it easier, there seemingly being about two dozen songs with this title, the lyrics are below (and chords can be found here
):

SLIPPIN' AWAY
Max Merritt & The Meteors

Baby I've been watchin' you
(Baby I've been watchin' you)
Watchin' everything you do
(Watchin' everything you do)
And I just can't help but feelin'
Someone else is stealin' you away from me
I see it written in your eyes
And you confirm it with your lies
Though the way the weave can hold me
I would rather that you told me, where you wanna be

Oh, oh, oh, you're slippin' away from me
Oh, oh, oh, you're slippin' away from me
And it's breakin' me in two
Watchin' you slippin' away

Baby, I've been watchin' you
(Baby, I've been watchin' you)
Watchin' everything you do
(Watchin' everything you do)
And I just can't help but feelin'
Someone else is stealin' you away from me
I see it written in your eyes
And you confirm it with your lies
Though the way the weave can hold me
I would rather that you told me, where you wanna be

Oh, oh, oh, you're slippin' away from me
Oh, oh, oh, you're slippin' away from me
And it's breakin' me in two
(Breakin' me in two)
Watchin' you slippin' away
And it's breakin' me in two
(Breakin' me in two)
Watchin' you slippin' away
And it's breakin me in two
(Breakin' me in two)
Watchin' you slippin' away

Baby I've been watchin' you
Watchin' everything you do
And I just can't help but feelin'
Someone else is stealin' you away from me
I see it written in your eyes
And you confirm it with your lies
Though the way the weave can hold me
I would rather that you told me, where you wanna be

Whoa, oh, oh, you're slippin' away from me
Whoa, oh, oh, you're slippin' away from me
And it's breakin' me in two
Watchin' you slippin' away
And it's breakin' me in two
Watchin' you slippin' away

(Fades to End)
Yes, it's breakin' me in two
Watchin' you slippin' away
I said, it's breakin' me in two
Watchin' you slippin' away

Hey,

been trying to find a tab for 'Here is my heart' sung by Jake and Beth, but have found nothing, so I've tabbed it myself (the G chord used in film sounds a tad different, but normal tuning)

Intro:    G    Eb7   D7

             G                   Bm7
J: Well I've tried, as hard as I can
             C             D    D7
   Just to make you understand
             G             Bm7

             C                     D      D7
It keeps goin', goin' round and round.

                G                     Bm7
B: I guess the nature, the nature of love
         C                      D      D7

Allmusic.com is a good source for finding out about recordings. It lists 48 recordings of SLIPPIN' AWAY—but there are several different songs with that title.

It might be easier to tell them apart if we knew who wrote the one you want.

but ill do it again.

IT IS NOT.." Tuhoe nui paru" as quoted here. its TUHOE NUI TONU!!!

the translations for your version says tuhoe are big and filthy, when the actual lyrics mean, tuhoe is still a force to be recond with
