Anyone out there know what Jim Lloyd is up to since he retired from presenting folk music on the BBC and left it in the care of one moron after a pop singer. Regards, Dave

Sorry Zander, have to take issue with you over the 'moron' bit :-) Look out for Harding's 'Bombers' Moon' album -- yeah he's a bit irritating at times, but knows his stuff, at least the post-Revival (wouldn't expect much response from him on a question about Cecil Sharpe ;-)

Good question though -- where is Jim Lloyd? Perhaps he's not doing much -- he's retired! Spot of gardening maybe. Incidentally, was he any relative of Bert (A L )?

Yes I think Mike Harding is doing a great job. At least it means we do get SOME REAL folk music on the BBC; and it is not ENTIRELY given over to country/western. I think it was one of the Yetties who once described Wally Whyton's 'Country meets Folk' as 'Country swamps Folk'. I'm afraid in the UK not a lot has changed. Does Jim Lloyd's wife still produce the programme, or has she retired as well?

Have to agree with you Simon, Mike has written some great songs but he or his producer is making a real ball's of presenting folk on the radio. Jim is no relation to the late Bert[ A. L. ] Lloyd. It was Jim's wife Frances Lines who produced the programme when Jim was the presenter, John Leonard produces it for Mike Harding who incidently as well as being a fine songwriter is also no mean mandolin and tenor banjo player. Jim Lloyd was at one time President of the EFDSS. thanks to all for your replies, Dave

I must agree with Zander`s criticisms of Mike Harding (or his produdcer). Jim Lloyd gave us an hour of music which we were unlikely to hear on other programmes, probably because it was mostly British. The current programme has too much American imput , music you can hear on Country programmes (should you want to).
