Dear Ralph,

Thanks for the lyrics. One question, re the 2nd verse. I thought it was, "ever dream you wake up cold in HAND", rather than hell. It would fit the rhyme scheme. But maybe you're right. Any thoughts?

David.......It's one of those things - how many times can you listen to it before you're sure? It's just my reading.

However, I'll be seeing Dave in September, and I'll ask him......Tiger

YES the lyric is "cold in hand". It's an old superstition, that, if you

"wake up cold in hand,
that's a sure sign, baby,
your woman's got another man".

It's not an idea DVR invented. It's part of the tradition the Blues comes from. If you wake up cold in hand, you must have had a bad dream!

And we aren't going to discuss why one would wake up in that condition....

No, it is not a superstition, exactly, more of a ground-truth observation. Don't make me spell it out for you.
