I have to admit it has historical interest. Comrades shot by the red front and reaction march in spirit with us in our ranks. The street free for the brown battalions, The street free for the Storm Troopers. Millions, full of hope, look up at the swastika; The day breaks for freedom and for bread. For the last time the call will now be blown; For the struggle now we all stand ready. Soon will fly Hitler-flags over every street; Slavery will last only a short time longer. Flag high, ranks closed, The S.A. marches with silent solid steps. Comrades shot by the red front and reaction march in spirit with us in our ranks. |
23 Jul 97 - 08:31 AM (#9324) Subject: RE: Horst Wessel tune & lyrics From: F.schulte-Noelle Thank you for your reluctancy, Joe... On one hand you are right, it is of historical interest; furthermore it is interesting to see and read this text and it´s genuine literary quality of a loo graffito and the subtlety of a Sherman tank. Showing the lyrics is also showing how and at what level the minds of the III. Reich worked. On the other hand, as a German, it gives me the creeps to find this song under "Folk music"...
